Tippecanoe Lake

Centroid 41.3273, -85.7629

Tippecanoe Lake is Indiana depth wearing cottage clothes. The clean boast is 122 feet, the deepest natural lake in the state, with a 15-foot Secchi reading in 2022. Clay, gravel, muck, sand. Water coming through James Lake and Grassy Creek, then leaving toward Oswego and the Tippecanoe River. It is not big-water famous in the Lake Erie sense. It is more local and sharper: a clear glacial basin ringed by homes, a lake where the bottom drops away faster than the shoreline mood suggests. Access has a little squeeze to it. Public entry is through Grassy Creek, a mile of creek before the lake, shallow in dry summers, under a culvert where judgment becomes part of the ramp. The fishery feels muscular rather than delicate: muskellunge stocked in the Tippecanoe Chain, tournament fish averaging around 39 inches, the state-record muskie coming from James Lake in the same chain. All that clear, deep water sits behind private frontage and pay ramps, with one free way on. Easy to see, hard to launch.

Public access
Public boat access to Tippecanoe Lake is limited and indirect: the DNR-associated Grassy Creek access point (off Armstrong Road, about one mile south of North Webster) connects via a hand-operated lock and low culvert to the lake's east shore, usable by smaller fishing boats and runabouts. Beyond Grassy Creek, launch access is through fee-based private marinas/resorts (Patona Bay Resort, Tippy Dance Hall, Tippecanoe Boat Company) rather than public parks. No dedicated public swim beach or shoreline park directly on Tippecanoe Lake was found; the nearby North Webster Town Park & Beach sits on adjacent Lake Webster, not on Tippecanoe Lake itself. Fees/permits: Grassy Creek (DNR-associated) access appears free per DNR's general no-permit policy for Fish & Wildlife access sites; private resort ramps charge roughly $10/day (Patona Bay Resort, Tippy Dance Hall) — not public fees.. Dogs and pets
medium — 6 dog parks within 25 mi (OSM); state rule: Indiana DNR property rules require pets on state park and reservoir properties to be caged or leashed (max 6 feet) and attended at all times. Pets are banned from swim beaches unless a specific beach is designated for pets, and may only be unleashed inside a camper, tent, or vehicle (with narrow reservoir exceptions). (Indiana DNR State Parks Property Rules and Regulations — Pet Rules page, fetched 2026-07-12); Patona Bay Resort, a private fee-based marina/launch on Tippecanoe Lake, advertises a designated 'pet walk' area for dogs. Stable hand-rated for v0.1 · lake-level · as of Sep 3, 2026

Built-out, cottage-ringed high-value lakefront in a supply-constrained market ('a limited supply market', ~10 listings at a time, $295K-$2.4M per lakehomes.com) — an established-high-value lake is stable even within a growth region (the Keowee/SML calibration), not rising. No documented subdivision or permit velocity. Hand-rated for v0.1.
